Sailing Lessons Program:

Sailing lessons for juniors are scheduled for eight consecutive weeks this season, beginning July 2. Junior sailors are between the ages of 8 and 18, having completed second grade. The junior sailing lessons are staffed by a Senior Instructor or Sailing Master and US Sailing Association Certified Assistant Instructors. Lessons are scheduled Monday through Thursday. Friday is reserved for our traditional Day Sail, for intermediate to advanced students. Parents are encouraged to come along on the Friday Day Sail. You do not need a boat, but additional yachts are always welcome.

Junior intra-club Turnabout racing occurs on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. All levels are encouraged to participate. Juniors participate in interclub 420 racing and other special events through the Down East Junior Sailing Association. DEJSA 420 races are scheduled on Thursday afternoons. Castine Class races occur on alternating Saturday afternoons throughout the summer.

Teens (+12) are encouraged to participate in our Big Boat Sailing Program on Tuesday afternoons.

Adult Sailing Lessons occur on Wednesday afternoons, followed by the Mercury Races. Adults interested in additional lessons should consult the Sailing Master. Private lessons may be arranged on an individual basis, on Saturdays, contingent on instructor availability.

Students can sail in the afternoons as weather and interest provide. CYC’s fleet: Turnabouts, 420s and Castine Class may be signed out, by yacht club members, after being approved by our Sailing Master. There is no charge, but the time of use must be coordinated with the staff.
