NOTICE OF RACE
The Racing Rules of Sailing 2017-20, the prescriptions of US SAILING, the ISSA Procedural Rules, this Notice of Race the Sailing Instructions will govern the regatta. In the event of a conflict between the governing documents and the Sailing Instructions the latter shall take precedence.
The Organizing Authority (OA) is the Castine Yacht Club.
The regattas, July 20 and August 17, 2017 are open to Downeast Maine Yacht Club junior members or and those junior racers participating in that club’s junior program.
ENTRY AND COMMUNICATIONS:
Please complete the registration form on Castineyachtclub.org. One form per Yacht Club please.
No entry fee.
Collegiate 420’s provided by Maine Maritime Academy MMA. Boats will be sailed as provided. Standing rigging may not be changed. Mainsheets may be rigged three or four to one.
1130 - Report time at CYC – 63 Water Street, Castine, ME 207-326-9231
1215 – Rig and launch off MMA floating docks
First whistle as soon as possible after 1230
No race will begin after 1530
All races will be sailed in the Bagaduce River or Smith’s Cove in the vicinity of CYC and MMA.
Based on conditions, the Race Committee will determine the courses and will describe them during the competitor meeting.
The regatta will be scored in accordance with RRS.
Housing is not provided.
TRAVEL AND TRANSPORTATION:
Transportation is the responsibility of the competitors. There will be dock space available if competitors arrive by boat.
‘Support Persons’ - Team leaders, chaperones, coaches, parents, instructors and other support personnel are allowed on the water during the races. CYC will attempt to provide boat space for up to two support persons per yacht club.
No prizes will be given.
RIGHTS TO USE NAME AND LIKENESS:
By participating in this event, competitors automatically grant to the Organizing Authority and the event sponsors the right, in perpetuity, to make, use and show, at their discretion, any photography, audio and video recordings, and other reproductions of them made at the venue or on the water from the time of their arrival at the venue, until their final departure, without compensation.
WAIVER OF LIABILITY:
Sailing is an activity that has an inherent risk of damage and injury. Competitors in this event are participating entirely at their own risk. See RRS 4, Decision to Race.
The race organizers (organizing authority, race committee, protest committee, host club, sponsors, or any other organization or official) will not be responsible for damage to any boat or other property or the injury to any competitor, including death, sustained as a result of participation in this event. By participating in this event, each competitor agrees to release the race organizers from any and all liability associated with such competitor’s participation in this event to the fullest extent permitted by law.
